Confocal microscopy

Confocal microscopy is like using a very special and powerful camera to look at very tiny things like cells and particles that are too small for us to see with our eyes.

Think of your eye like a camera that takes pictures of things but it can only focus on one thing at a time. Confocal microscopy is like having a camera that can take pictures of many things at the same time and then make a very clear picture with all those pictures combined.

To do this, confocal microscopy uses a special laser light that can see inside things like cells and particles. It shines the laser light on the things and takes many pictures from different angles. Then, it puts all the pictures together to make a very clear and detailed 3D image of the thing.

This technique is used by scientists to understand more about how cells and particles work and how they look like inside.
