Contractarianism

Contractarianism is a way of thinking about how people should live together. It is based on the idea that people should make agreements with each other about the rules they will follow when they are together. People should agree to follow these rules because it is in their self-interest to do so. This means that if everyone follows the rules, then everyone will be better off than if no one follows the rules.
