Cut in earthmoving means removing or excavating soil or rock from a portion of land or terrain. It is like digging a hole on a larger scale. Think of it as when you play with your sand toys at the beach and use a shovel to remove some sand from one spot to make a hole. Cut is a similar activity, but it is done using big machines like excavators and bulldozers.
When people want to make a road or build a big building on a piece of land, they might need to cut the soil or rock from the area to make a flat and level surface. They use many types of heavy machinery to do it. The machines dig, scoop and scoop up the soil, rocks and debris, filling up trucks to carry away the material. The material which is removed during the cut is often used somewhere else for building or filling the ground.
It may take a long time to complete a cut, depending on how much earth needs to be removed, but with the help of the machines, it can be done quickly and efficiently. Cutting the land also helps to provide a foundation for buildings and roads to be constructed on top of the newly created flat surface.
