Decolonization of the Americas

Decolonization of the Americas is when countries in North and South America that were controlled by other countries (known as colonies) got their independence and were able to rule themselves. To gain their freedom, people in those countries had to fight and speak out against the countries that were controlling them. After years of struggle and with help from other countries, the people of the Americas were finally able to become independent countries. Now each country in the Americas has its own government that makes its own rules and decides how it should be run.
