ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Environmental governance

Environmental governance is about how people and governments work together to make sure the environment stays healthy and safe. It means deciding what must be done to protect things like rivers, oceans, forests, and endangered species from things like pollution and taking too many resources from them. It also includes making sure people don’t build too much in certain places, like near nature reserves. Environmental governance usually involves everyone from local people who live close to nature and are impacted by it, to politicians who are making laws and regulations, to scientists who study and understand the environment. Everyone has to work together to make sure the environment is safe and clean and healthy.
