Estimation theory

Estimation theory is like trying to guess the right answer when you don't know the right answer. It's used in science and engineering to help figure out things. For example, if scientists are trying to figure out how much of a particular chemical is in water, they can use estimation theory to help them estimate how much of the chemical is in the water. They can look at the amount of the chemical in other things and use that to guess how much is in the water. That's estimation theory!
