Experimental evolution is like playing a game. Scientists create the rule, then they watch what happens when they play the game with a group of organisms. Scientists can change the rules to make the game harder or easier and watch how the organisms respond. They might change the environment where the game is played or what the organisms have access to - like food or shelter - and then observe how the organism adapt, or change, to the different rules. By doing this, scientists can learn about how evolution, or how organisms change over time, works.
