Genomics of domestication is the study of how animals and plants changed when humans started taking care of them. Scientists study the genes inside of the animals and plants to see what has changed over time. By studying the changes in their genes, scientists can learn how different animals and plants have become more suited to living in close proximity to humans and performing jobs that humans need them to do. Scientists can also find out how long ago these animals and plants were domesticated and when they started to become different from their wild ancestors.
