Fencibles

Okay kiddo, so a long time ago, there was a group of people called the fencibles. They were like soldiers, but they weren’t in the big army that fought in wars far away. Instead, they were local people who signed up to help protect their own town or city.

You know how sometimes the police have to catch the bad guys and protect us from danger? The fencibles were a bit like that, but they weren’t police officers. They were more like a neighborhood watch group, but with uniforms and swords.

The fencibles were usually made up of regular people from the community – farmers, shopkeepers, maybe even your own grandpa or grandma! They would train together and learn how to work as a team to keep their town safe. It wasn’t easy, but they were proud to do it because they loved their community and wanted to keep it free from harm.

So that’s what the fencibles were – a group of everyday people who banded together to protect their hometown. Pretty cool, huh?
