The Free Energy Principle states that all living things (including humans) work to minimize the amount of energy used to stay alive. To do this, living things are always trying to balance how much energy they use from their environment (like food and air) with the amount of energy they save. For example, when we eat food, our bodies use some energy to break down the food and turn it into energy that our cells can use. But then, we save some of the energy to use later, in case we need it. This saving and using of energy helps us to stay alive in the long run.
