Geographical renaming

Geographical renaming is when people change the names of places. This could happen for lots of reasons. For example, if a place used to be ruled by a certain king or country and that king or country changed or doesn't exist anymore, people may decide to change the name of the place to reflect that. Another reason to change the name of a place could be because it has a bad or offensive meaning, and people want to rename it something more positive. Geographical renaming can even happen when the people who live in a certain area decide that they want to change the name of their town, city, or country to something else.
