Grits

Okay kiddo, have you ever had oatmeal for breakfast? Grits are kinda like a southern version of oatmeal. They're made from ground up corn, just like the corn in tortilla chips or cornbread.

To make grits, you take the ground up corn and cook it in boiling water or milk until it gets soft and creamy. Some people add butter, salt, or cheese to make it taste even better. Grits can be served by themselves, as a side dish, or with toppings like bacon, eggs, or shrimp.

They might look a bit like mashed potatoes, but grits are different because they're made from corn instead of potatoes. They're a popular food in the southern United States, and some people like to eat them for breakfast, while others have them for dinner. They're a comfort food that people have been eating for a long time, and they're still a favorite today.
