Hawaiian sovereignty movement

The Hawaiian sovereignty movement is a group of people who believe that Hawaii should have its own government and be independent from the United States. A long time ago, Hawaii was its own kingdom with its own ruler called a king or queen. But in 1898, the United States took control of Hawaii and made it a part of their country.

Some people in Hawaii now think that was not fair and that Hawaii should be its own country again. They believe that the United States didn't follow the rules and did some bad things to take over Hawaii. They also think that, by being their own country, they could take better care of their land and their people.

The sovereignty movement has different groups, and they have different ideas about how to make Hawaii independent. Some of them want to work with the United States to make it happen, while others want to completely separate from the United States. It's a complex issue that involves history, politics, and culture, but at its core, the sovereignty movement is about wanting Hawaii to be its own independent country again.
