Buddhism is an ancient religion created by a man named Siddhartha Gautama, also known as the Buddha, more than 2,500 years ago in India. He was a prince born into a royal family who decided to give up his life of luxury and find a way to end suffering and unhappiness in the world. He believed that knowledge, wisdom, and skillful living were the keys to lasting happiness, and he traveled all over India to teach others his way. Eventually, he developed the idea that we should be kind and compassionate to all beings and live with understanding, wisdom and mindfulness. His teachings spread throughout Asia and eventually, around the world. Buddhism is based on the teachings of Buddha and is a major religion still practiced by millions of people all around the world today.
