Homo naledi is the name of a very old group of humans who lived a very long time ago in a place called South Africa. They were discovered by a group of really smart scientists who went deep into a dark cave to look for bones. The bones were all jumbled up and mixed together, so it was really hard to figure out which bones belonged to which person.
When they finally figured it all out, they found out that Homo naledi was a really special group of humans that looked a lot like us, but also a little bit different. They were really small and skinny, and their hands and feet were shaped like ours, but they also had some strange features like really curved fingers and a really tiny brain.
The scientists think that Homo naledi might have been one of our very old ancestors that lived a really long time ago, and might have even left some of their genes behind in us. Even though we don't see Homo naledi around anymore, they've taught us a lot about our history and where we come from.
