Hydrophyte

A hydrophyte is a plant that loves to live in areas where there is a lot of water. Just like how you might love to swim in a pool, these plants love to have their roots in water all the time. They have special parts in their leaves and stems that help them to breathe in the water and get the nutrients they need to grow. Some hydrophytes even grow flowers under the water! These plants can be found in places like swamps, lakes, and rivers. They're super important for our environment because they help to clean the water and provide a home for fish and other animals.
