ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Inclusive design

Okay kiddo, have you ever played with a toy or used a computer game that was really hard for you to understand or use because it was made for older kids or adults? Inclusive design is when people make things like toys, games, and other products that are easy for everyone to use, no matter how old or young they are, how well they can see or hear, or what other challenges they may have.

Think about it like this: let's say you and your friends are all having a party and you want to make sure that everyone can have fun and play together. You wouldn't just plan games that only some of your friends can play, right? You would choose games that everyone can participate in and enjoy.

Inclusive design is about doing the same thing with products and technology. It's about making sure that everyone can use and enjoy them, no matter who they are or what challenges they face. This could include things like making sure that a website is easy for someone who is blind to navigate using special software that reads the text out loud, or making a toy that is easy for a child who has trouble holding things to play with.

So, inclusive design basically means making sure that everyone can be part of the fun, just like you would with your party games!
