Income quintiles

Income quintiles are a way of grouping people into five groups based on their income. The groups are called "quintiles" and they are made up of people who have incomes that are similar to one another. The easiest way to think about it is to imagine a ladder with five steps. The people in the lowest quintile are at the bottom of the ladder and they have the lowest incomes. The people in the highest quintile are at the top of the ladder and they have the highest incomes. The other three quintiles in the middle have incomes that are in the middle. This helps us get a better understanding of the differences between the incomes of people in different areas.
