Ionic bond

An ionic bond is a special type of bond that happens when one type of atom (called an "ion") gives an electron to another atom. The atom that gives away an electron gets positively charged and the other atom which gets an electron gets negatively charged. They both have different charges and they're attracted to each other, which is why they stick together and make a bond.
