Jeremiah 37

Jeremiah 37 is a chapter in the Bible that tells the story of a man named Jeremiah who was a prophet. A prophet is someone who hears messages from God and shares them with the people.

In this chapter, Jeremiah is living in a city called Jerusalem and he has been warning the people that there will be consequences if they don't stop disobeying God's commands. However, the king of Jerusalem, King Zedekiah, and his officers do not like Jeremiah's message and they throw him into prison.

While Jeremiah is in prison, King Zedekiah secretly sends two of his officials to Jeremiah to ask him what God has to say about their situation. Jeremiah tells them that they should surrender to the Babylonian army that is coming to attack them, or else they will all face a terrible fate.

Despite Jeremiah's warning, King Zedekiah refuses to listen and instead he sends his army after Jeremiah to put him to death. Fortunately, Jeremiah is rescued by a man named Ebed-Melech, who was an Ethiopian and one of the king's officials.

In the end, the Babylonian army does come and the city of Jerusalem is destroyed and many people are killed or taken captive. Jeremiah's message may have been difficult to hear, but it was ultimately the truth that could have saved many lives if it had been heeded.
