John 18 is a chapter in the Bible that tells a story about a man named Jesus and how he was betrayed by one of his own friends and arrested by the people who didn't like him.
Here's what happened:
So, Jesus and his friends were praying in a garden when suddenly a group of people showed up to arrest Jesus. It turns out that one of his friends, Judas, had agreed to betray him and had told the people where Jesus was.
When the people showed up, Jesus asked who they were looking for and they said they were there for him. Jesus surrendered himself to them and they arrested him.
They took Jesus to a trial in front of some important people who didn't like him. They accused Jesus of doing bad things and causing trouble, but Jesus said he hadn't done anything wrong.
Despite his protests, they decided to punish Jesus by crucifying him, which means he was nailed to a wooden cross and left to die.
It's a sad story, but it's also part of why Jesus is so important to many people today. People believe that he was willing to die to show his love for humanity and that his death and resurrection (when he came back to life three days later) helped to bring forgiveness and salvation to us all.
