Just-so story

Just-so stories are tales made up to explain why something is the way it is. They usually involve animals and other creatures, and tell of how one of them did something to explain why something happens or how something looks. For example, a just-so story might explain why a tiger has stripes, with a story about a tiger running through grass and the stripes helping it hide.
