ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Kalpa (time)

Kalpa is a really big number that tells you how much time has passed or will pass. Imagine if you were making a really big pizza outside, and you decided to count every single pepperoni that you put on it. After you put on one million pepperonis, you might start counting in groups of one thousand, to make things easier. And after you reach one trillion pepperonis, you might start counting in groups of one hundred trillion, because that's a really, REALLY big number. That's kind of like what a kalpa is - it's a really, REALLY big number that tells you how much time has passed or will pass. But instead of counting pepperonis, it's counting years. People sometimes use the word "kalpa" to talk about a really, REALLY long time - so long that it's hard to even imagine!
