ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Likejacking

Hello! So, you know when you see a really cool picture or video online and you want to click on that like button to show that you like it? Well, unfortunately, some people trick us into clicking on that like button without us even knowing it! This is called likejacking.

Basically, what happens is that someone creates a sneaky link that looks like it will show you something cool, but when you click on it, it actually makes you automatically click on the like button. So, even if you didn't really like the thing you saw, your Facebook friends will see that you did because the hacker made you click that like button without knowing it.

It's like if someone was holding a big box of candy and said "Hey, come check out what's in here!" and when you looked inside, they quickly closed the lid on your head and made you automatically say "mmm, I love candy!". Tricky, right?

So, it's important to be careful what links you click on online and always make sure you know what you're clicking on before you actually click it. And if you see something on your Facebook page that you don't remember liking, it might be because someone was likejacking you.
