Ok kiddo, you know how we sometimes send astronauts in rockets to explore space and see what's out there? Well, a long time ago, scientists wanted to know how living things, other than astronauts, would do in space. So, they decided to send some monkeys and apes to space to study them.
Now, monkeys and apes are animals that are very similar to humans, they look like us and have a brain almost like us, so it's interesting to understand how they react to very different environments, like space.
So, they built special space vehicles called rockets, which would take the monkeys and apes into space. These rockets were sent high up into the sky, and as they moved away from the Earth, they experienced some changes in gravity, air pressure, and temperature.
The scientists monitored these animals to see how they reacted to these changes in space. They found out that some of these animals were able to adjust to these changes, and some of them also learned how to do some tasks in space.
However, sending animals to space is not always the best way to understand things, especially since animals frequently have a hard time adapting to unusual and difficult conditions. Now scientists are focusing on developing technology that permits humans and animals to explore space as safely and comfortably as possible.
So for now, we let our astronauts explore and learn in space, while monkeys and non-human apes stay on Earth safe and sound.
