Natural gas

Natural gas is a fossil fuel that is made from the remains of plants and animals that lived millions of years ago. It is a very important energy source for heating our homes and for making electricity. Natural gas is found deep underground, and it is extracted by drilling into the ground and then pumping it up to the surface. Natural gas is burned to heat homes, to produce electricity, and to power some cars and trucks.
