Nemesis (mythology)

In mythology, nemesis is a goddess who punishes people who have become too proud or too arrogant. She thinks they should be humble, but they think they are too important and don't need to be humble. So Nemesis punishes them by giving them bad luck or taking something away from them to remind them to be humble.
