Oppression Olympics is when two people or groups try to prove who experiences more discrimination or oppression. For example, someone might say, "my race experiences more oppression than yours" or "my religion has it worse than yours". Oppression Olympics happens when someone compares their experiences to another person's and tries to prove that they face more oppression than the other person. This can be damaging because it ignores the unique experiences of both people and makes it seem like there is a competition to suffer the most. This type of behaviour undermines the experiences of each individual and can leave people feeling invalidated and disrespected.
