Parabolic dune

Okay kiddo, have you ever played in the sand at the beach or a sandbox? Imagine a big pile of sand that's shaped like a hill.

Now, if the wind blows really hard, it can push the sand up the hill and make it taller. This is called a parabolic dune.

The dune is shaped like a big semi-circle and the wind blows the sand into this shape.

Sometimes plants will grow on the dune and hold the sand in place so it doesn't blow away.

Parabolic dunes are pretty cool to look at, but they can also be dangerous because they can move and change shape over time. So it's important to be careful and not climb on them without an adult keeping an eye on you.
