Position fixing

Position fixing is like playing a game of "hot and cold" but with a map and some gadgets. Just like when you play "hot and cold", the gadgets help you know if you are getting closer or farther from your target. But instead of searching for a hidden object, position fixing is used to figure out where you are on a map.

One of the gadgets used for position fixing is called a GPS (Global Positioning System). It's like a magic wand that tells you exactly where you are on the map. You can hold it up high and it will instantly tell you the exact spot you're standing on.

Another gadget called a compass helps you figure out which direction to go in. It has a little arrow that always points north, so you can use it to figure out which way you're facing and which direction to walk in.

Lastly, if you know how fast you are going, you can figure out how far you've traveled. This is called "dead reckoning", and it's like counting how many steps you've taken. You then use this information to plot your rough location on the map.

All of these gadgets are used together to pinpoint your exact location on the map. Sometimes the gadgets may not work perfectly, but that's okay! Just like in "hot and cold", you can keep adjusting your strategy until you find your target.
