ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Priming (psychology)

Priming is when something that we saw or experienced before influences how we react to something new. It's like our brain remembers things without us thinking about it. For example, if you're playing a game and you see the same colors and shapes that you saw when you've played the game before, it will make it easier for you to remember and do the game. It's like your brain is primed up and ready to play the game.
