ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Product development (textiles)

Product development for textiles involves creating new clothes, bedding, and other textile products. It's like making a cake recipe, but instead of flour and sugar, we use yarn and fabric.

First, we think about what the product will be used for and who will use it. For example, a quilt might be used to keep someone warm while they sleep, so we'll want it to be made from soft, cozy materials. Or a shirt might be made for a kid who likes to run and play outside, so it needs to be durable and comfortable.

Next, we create a design for the product. This is like making a drawing of what the product will look like. We need to think about things like the shape, color, and pattern of the product. Maybe we want to make a jacket with lots of pockets, or a pillow with a fun animal print on it.

Then, we start to make the product. We choose the materials we want to use, like cotton or wool, and cut them into the right shapes. Then we sew or glue the pieces together to make the final product.

Throughout the process, we test the product to make sure it works well. We might try on a shirt to see if it fits nicely or wash a towel to see how it holds up.

Finally, we put the finished product on the market for people to buy and use. And if people like it, we might make more of them!
