ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Race and crime

Race and crime are two things are not always connected, but sometimes people think they go together. Race is a way of talking about differences between people, like their skin color or where their family comes from. Crime is when someone does something against the law, like stealing something or hurting someone.

It's true that some races have higher crime rates than others. That doesn't mean that all people from that race are criminals, though. Everyone is responsible for their own choices, and not all people from the same race make the same choices. It's important to remember this when talking about race and crime.
