Rangaku

Rangaku is like when Japanese people in the old time wanted to learn about things from other countries. They wanted to learn new ideas and things that they didn't know before. They especially wanted to learn about science, medicine, and technology from countries like the Netherlands. Some things were easy to understand, like clocks and telescopes, but some things were harder, like the Dutch language. So, rangaku was like a big puzzle that Japanese people tried really hard to solve, so they can learn more cool things that they never knew before.
