Regulatory capture

Regulatory capture is when the government tries to control or “regulate” businesses or industries, but the businesses or industries start to control the government instead. This means that the businesses or industries get to make all the rules, and they can do whatever they want even if it harms people or the environment. This isn’t fair and it doesn’t help people, so the government needs to make sure that businesses or industries can’t have too much power over it.
