Resection (orientation)

Okay kiddo, so imagine you have a big pizza and you want to cut a slice out of it. Resection is kind of like that, but with organs inside your body. Sometimes, doctors need to remove a part of an organ that isn't working properly or has a problem.

But before they can cut it out, they need to figure out which part of the organ to remove and make sure they don't damage anything else. To do this, they need to know the orientation of the organ.

Orientation just means understanding how the organ is situated or positioned inside your body. For example, your stomach is located on the left side of your body, near your ribcage.

When doctors perform a resection, they carefully study the orientation of the organ using things like x-rays, CT scans, or MRI images. This helps them figure out exactly where to cut and which direction to remove the problematic area.

After the surgery, the doctors also need to make sure the organ is reconnected properly so that it can continue to work properly. Just like putting the pizza slice back together!
