Rumor

A rumor is like a story that has been passed on by word of mouth - but it is not necessarily true. When someone tells a rumor to someone else, sometimes that person will pass the same story on to somebody else, and it can spread like that until everyone in a community or a school knows about it. But usually, the story is not true, or is only partly true, and it is important not to believe everything you hear.
