A scooter is like a small motorcycle that you can ride to go places without walking or using a car. Imagine a bicycle with a motor that runs on gasoline or electricity. It has two wheels, a seat for you to sit on and a place to put your feet on while riding it. There are also handles for you to grip with your hands and steer the scooter.
To start a scooter, you have to turn the key to the "on" position and press a button or kick-start the engine by pushing a lever with your foot. The engine then makes a sound like "vroom, vroom" and starts running.
To move the scooter, you have to twist one of the handles that are at the front part of the scooter. Twisting the handle moves the wheels and makes the scooter go forward. You can control the speed of the scooter by how much you twist the handle.
You also need to wear a helmet and other safety gear because you could fall off the scooter and hurt yourself.
Scooters are great for traveling around the city because they are small and easy to park. They can be used by adults and sometimes kids too (with adult supervision).
