ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Soviet imperialism

Okay kiddo, let me explain what Soviet imperialism means.

Imagine you have a lot of toys and you want to control all the other kids' toys in your class. That's kind of what the Soviet Union did back in the day.

The Soviet Union was a big country with lots of power, and it wanted to control other countries and make them do what the Soviet Union wanted. This meant sending soldiers and officials to these countries to make sure they did what the Soviet Union wanted.

They would build military bases in these other countries and force them to follow their rules. They also tried to spread their own way of doing things, like their political beliefs and their way of life.

This is called imperialism because it's like trying to take over other places and make them do what you want, which is not very nice.

So, that's what Soviet imperialism means. It's when the Soviet Union tried to expand its power and influence by controlling other countries and making them do what they wanted.
