A standardized test is a type of test where everyone taking it is asked the same questions, in the same order. It is used to measure how well you know the material. It is like when you go to the store and they weigh every apple the same way so they can tell how much each one of them weighs. The same applies to standardized tests. They measure how well you know something in the same way, so they can compare your results to other people's results.
