ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Terrestrial plant

So you know how plants grow in the ground and they have leaves and stems? Those are called terrestrial plants. They live on land and they like to have their roots in the soil where they can suck up water and nutrients.

When the sun shines on them, they use a process called photosynthesis to make their own food. That's why they're so important for the environment - they produce oxygen for us to breathe and help keep the air clean.

Terrestrial plants come in all shapes and sizes. Some are short and bushy, while others are tall and skinny. They can have flowers that attract bees and butterflies, and some even have thorns or prickly leaves to protect themselves from animals that might want to eat them.

Plants are really cool and interesting! They grow at their own pace, and some can even live for hundreds of years. So next time you see a plant, stop and take a closer look - you might learn something new!
