Territorialisation of carbon governance

Okay, so imagine you are playing with a bunch of toys with your friends. You sometimes fight over which toy belongs to whom and who gets to use which toy.

Similarly, when it comes to carbon or greenhouse gases, countries all over the world are like friends who have to share this thing called the Earth's atmosphere.

However, just like with toys, countries often disagree on how much of the carbon emissions belong to whom and who should be responsible for reducing them. This disagreement can lead to conflicts, just like how you might argue with your friends over toys.

So, to avoid fights, countries have started to make rules, called carbon governance, that decide who owns or is responsible for certain amounts of carbon emissions. This is called territorialization because it's like they are drawing borders around their carbon emissions and deciding who has control over them.

Each country has its own set of rules, and these rules can be different from each other. So, it's like your friends and you making your own rules for sharing toys, but there are too many toys and too many friends to make one rule that works for everyone.

That's why countries have to work together to make sure everyone can use the Earth's atmosphere without causing too much harm. They talk to each other and make agreements to reduce their own carbon emissions and help others to do the same.

So, the territorialization of carbon governance is just countries making rules to decide who owns or is responsible for certain amounts of carbon emissions, so everyone can share the Earth's atmosphere without fighting over it.
