Ultraviolet photography

Alright kiddo, did you know that some colors that you cannot see with your naked eyes can show up in pictures? One of these colors is called ultraviolet or UV for short.

Now, ultraviolet photography is taking pictures with special cameras that can capture UV light. These cameras have filters that block out regular light that you can see with your own eyes, so that only UV light can get through.

Why would someone want to take UV pictures, you may ask? Well, some things look really different under UV light. For example, flowers can have patterns on them that are only visible under UV light and certain rocks can glow!

But remember kiddo, taking UV pictures safely is really important. Since UV light can be harmful to your eyes and skin, you should never try to take these pictures without protective gear like goggles and gloves.
