Urban design is like putting together a puzzle to make a city.
A city is a big place with a lot of buildings, roads, sidewalks, parks, and other things that people use every day. Urban designers think about how to put all those things together so they work well for everyone who lives, works, or visits the city.
They think about things like:
- What the city needs to work well: like enough space for cars and bikes, places to park, and easy ways to get around.
- What people like: like parks and playgrounds, restaurants and shops, and places to sit and relax.
- What looks good: like different styles of buildings, trees and plants, and public art.
So, urban designers work with lots of different people, like architects, city planners, engineers, and community groups to make sure that the city puzzle pieces fit together just right.
They might draw plans or sketches to show how the city could look, and they might ask people what they think about the plans before they start building anything.
It's like making sure that everyone has a say in how the city looks and works, so that it's a great place to live, work, and play!
