A utility pole is a big tall stick that stands up straight in the ground and reaches up to the sky. People put these poles near houses and buildings and sometimes even in the middle of a field. The pole has a lot of wires attached to it that carry electricity from one place to another. Think of it like a big spider web but with electricity running through it.
These poles are made of really strong wood or sometimes metal. They are built to be very strong because they have to hold up a lot of heavy wires without falling down. The wires that run along the pole carry electricity to homes and businesses so people can use things like lights and computers. People who work for the electricity company climb up these poles to fix problems or do something called "maintenance" to make sure everything is working correctly.
Without utility poles, we wouldn't be able to have electricity. They're kind of like giant lighthouses that help guide the electricity to where it's needed.
