Vietnamese wine

Vietnamese wine is like grape juice, but for adults. Instead of using grapes like they do to make classic wines, Vietnamese wines are made with tropical fruits such as dragon fruit, passion fruit or pineapple.

Winemakers in Vietnam usually mix the fruit with rice wine, sugar and yeast in a large container called a fermenter. Yeast is a special bacteria that makes the juice turn into alcohol, which is what makes the wine alcoholic.

After the fruit and rice wine mixture is left to ferment for several days, the liquid is strained into a clean, airtight container for a few weeks or months to mature. This is when the wine develops its unique flavor and aroma.

When it's ready to drink, Vietnamese wine is usually served chilled, like soda. It can have a sweet, fruity taste, or be sour and tart. Some wines are even spicy or have herbs added to them for extra flavour.

Just remember that kids shouldn't drink Vietnamese wine because it's only for adults who are 18 and older. And always remember to drink responsibly!
