Waste to energy

Waste to energy means turning the trash we produce into a source of energy. When we throw our trash into the garbage can or dumpster, it doesn't just vanish into thin air. It goes to a landfill where it creates a lot of unwanted pollution and can harm the environment. But waste to energy helps to reduce this pollution and extract energy from our waste.

So, how does it work? First, our trash is collected and sorted to remove recyclable materials like paper or plastic. The remaining waste is then burned in specialized facilities called waste-to-energy plants. These plants use the heat from burning the trash to produce steam. The steam is used to turn turbines or generators that create electricity. This electricity can then be used to power homes or businesses.

One important thing to keep in mind is that waste-to-energy doesn't completely solve our trash problem. It's still important to reduce the amount of waste we produce and recycle as much as we can. But, waste-to-energy is one way to make use of the waste that we can't recycle and reduce the amount of pollution we create.
