ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Civil remedy

Civil remedy is a legal way to try and solve a problem. It means that someone who believes they were wronged by someone else can go to court and ask the judge to give them something called a “remedy.” A remedy is like a punishment for the person who wronged them, and it’s meant to make things better for the person who got wronged. For example, if someone stole your bike, you might be able to get a civil remedy, like a court order for them to pay you back the cost of the bike.
