ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Advance airfield

An advance airfield is like a special place for airplanes to land and take off when they are far away from their usual airports. It's like having a backup spot for planes to rest and refuel when they are on a long journey and need to take a break.

Sometimes planes need to land in places that are very far away from their normal airports because they need to travel a really long distance. But the planes can't just fly for hours without stopping because they need to take care of important things like making sure they have enough gas, checking the engines, and making sure the passengers are doing okay.

That's where an advance airfield comes in. It's a special location that's set up to help planes take care of these important things. The airfield has people who work there to take care of the planes, like mechanics who can fix any problems, people who can refuel the planes, and air traffic controllers who help the planes land and take off safely.

So basically, an advance airfield is like having a special rest stop for airplanes when they are on a long journey.
