Agricultural expansion is when humans increase the amount of land used to grow crops and raise animals for food. It can happen in two ways. First, more land is needed to grow enough food to feed all the people. So farmers find new places to farm that have enough water, good soil, and lots of space. Second, farmers also expand their farms by adding new technologies and equipment to help them produce more crops in a shorter amount of time. This is called modern farming and it allows farmers to farm bigger and better.
